First Time We Meet
September, 2021It all began on Melfort Road (Thornton heath ) in March 2021. My friend was driving me to a hospital appointment when we noticed Nicholas standing by the roadside. He smiled at me—a smile that instantly caught my attention. Without thinking twice, I turned to my friend and said, “Let’s go back and get his number.” My friend laughed but kindly turned the car around. At that moment, I realised, I didn't look my best—I was wearing a headscarf and a tracksuit, I looked more like a house girl than someone trying to secure a date . I think Nicholas was a little surprised when we came back, probably expecting to save me any embarrassment by just handing over his number. But then, to my delight, he called me while I was still waiting to be seen at the hospital. And that call? That was the start of everything. The rest, as they say, is history.
